The Rear Wing Takeover Contest: A Unique Collaboration between Kraken and Williams Racing

The Rear Wing Takeover contest, open to Grid Pass NFT holders, is a unique collaboration between Kraken and Williams Racing. The partnership involves the two companies participating in an innovative competition for fans of the Formula 1 circuit where their artwork can be showcased on cars at the US Grand Prix.

Fans must possess a Grid Pass NFT to be eligible, which has been revised for 2024 and now offers special benefits like 5% off on all Williams Racing merchandise and exclusive events at Williams Fan Zones. The contest has already attracted more than 50,000 Grid Passes, and it is expected to generate interest for both NFT enthusiasts and racing enthusiasts.

GridPass NFT holders will receive an airdrop of PFPs from the new Cosmos Collection, which includes 10 unique character types and over 130 unique traits. The Cosmos Collection, created by Web3 artist CandyApple, adds a unique and imaginative touch to the contest.

The contest mechanism is simple but fun: fans will vote for six winners from dozens of shortlisted NFTs, which will be featured in the livery of cars made by Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto. The Rear Wing Takeover of last year, where six lucky winners won the competition and had their NFTs affixed to the rear wing of both Williams Racing cars, generated fervent excitement among fans.

Kraken’s partnership with Williams highlights the growing intersection between cryptocurrency and mainstream sports. Kraken, the manufacturer of the Williams Racing Collectibles+ Grid Pass, has been leading the way in providing innovative ways for fans and collectors to connect with their favorite sports teams and brands.

NFTs have become increasingly popular as a means of connecting sports and cryptocurrency. By offering exclusive rewards and immersive digital experiences, NFTs can increase fan engagement and revenue streams for sports teams and brand partnerships. The Rear Wing Takeover contest is a prime example of how NFTs can be creatively utilized to encourage fan involvement and excitement.

As the cryptocurrency market develops, partnerships like the one between Kraken and Williams Racing are expected to become significant in the future of sports fandom. NFTs and cryptocurrency enable sports teams and brands to create novel experiences for their fans, driving engagement and loyalty.

At the US Grand Prix, Williams Racing enthusiasts can take part in the Rear Wing Takeover competition by having their artwork featured on the car’s dashboard as part of the action. The contest is open to Grid Pass NFT holders, and fans have until the end of the competition to redeem their GridPass and participate in this exciting initiative.
